SIMP (Systems Integration for Major Projects)

Abstract:

SIMP aims to enable shared understanding among customer and suppliers of requirements, trade-offs, costs and risks. The project has five principal objectives:

• Determine whether Bayesian Belief Nets can model enterprise processes to deliver predictions about risk and uncertainty for decision support
• Determine whether a computational scenario-driven technique for assessing capability needs for all aspects of an enterprise will provide managers with relevant and timely information to make trade-off analyses for decision support
• Determine whether Coupling Analysis can assess human performance with different technology solutions using socio-technical models of candidate systems
• Determine how previous scenario generation research can be applied to requirements validation by creating a necessary and sufficient set of scenarios for the definition of operational context for the product, the project and the enterprise
• Determine how it is possible to integrate the above approaches for a complex major project into a common system integration framework

SIMP uses major projects of BAE SYSTEMS as reference projects for its development.
